Coral calcification

Coral Calcification transforms a meditation chair into a sculptural body that appears to have been colonised by an organic form. On the cottonupholstered surface, the gauze quilting technique unfolds like a series of growths reminiscent of coral formations attached to a solid structure. These textile accumulations introduce a tension between stillness and expansion: while the geometry of the chair suggests stability and seclusion, the soft reliefs seem to grow slowly over it, like a natural process of sedimentation. The piece thus proposes a space for contemplation where the body encounters a material that evokes geological time, transformation and life in process.
